My collection of artwork is a reflection of my growth, education, my fantasy, my hustle, my re-education and soul, my literary
influence, my hood, my FAMILY and a feel on black eroticism. It is a salute to hip hop cultURE pertaining
to west coast rap music and graffiti with relation to pan africanism.
The materials I use to shape
the purpose and intended message of the work, Predominantly in oil, are applied in a naturalistic manner. I use linseed oil
and turpinoid for transparency and to break and ooze the oil paint, creating a mineral like effect. I then join this "freestyle
technique" for a background or a filler for black- radical reconstructive expressionism and concepts using
personal images and rap lyrics collage in contemporary form.
Afro- hoodism is an international art form and
literature renaissance GROWING from modern pan-africanism. its aim is to contribute to contInental unity of Africa
and rebuilding a understanding with americans with african decent (AMERICAN AFRICANS) and the Diaspora from hip hop's
cultural position globally.
My goal is to create a COLLECTION of quality artwork. i would like to embolden a respect
in the hip hop community in regards to WEST COAST rap/GRAFFITI positions, while StimulatING black cultural awareness locally
and THROUGH hoods nationally.
My motivation stems from the enjoyment of change and the continuation of great black
art in America. Its raw and free without institutional influence.
AND THIS IS NO PRIMITIVE WORK.
hip
hops visual arts element graffiti, on the west coast, has dated back to the early eighties but has been overshadowed by its
reInvention and direction through post tupac/biggie industrial rap and “snap pop.” the works of art that i have created involves
itself with its artistic “hoodness” along with a more broad picture regarding blacks in AMERICA.
